Not to say that you should be “dieting” during these times because we don’t believe in dieting. On the contrary, allow yourself to indulge in foods that you love but make sure you stay mindful of what you put inside your body. WORKOUT EVERYDAY


Try to move your body and stay active everyday. Now, we’re not asking you to go Barry’s Bootcamp on us , this is a “retreat” after all. But wether it’s high or low-impact, you want to make sure that you keep your body moving (check out our workout playlist if you need some good music!). Go for walks, hikes, do some mat pilates, yoga, there are tons of free tutorials online. If you want to get a bit more creative with your workouts, organize a dance zoom party with your friends!

FILTER OUT YOUR ENTERTAINMENT


Social distancing means more time to watch movies, read books, listen to podcasts and catch up on all the entertainment that you’ve been wanting to consume for years. If you want to make the best out of this time, try to filter out your entertainment. Meaning, keep up with the Kardashians, but with moderation. Instead, try to watch movies, listen to podcasts and read books that are considered “classics”, or that have pioneered cultural or artistic movements.

STICK TO YOUR DAILY RITUALS


Don’t skip your morning skincare routine just because you can — stick to the steps in your daily that give your day a sense of structure. Use this time to appreciate the little things in life that make you happy like drinking your morning coffee, taking a warm shower or reading a good book in candlelight.

From the next best workout, to energy healing, organic food, and Goop-lead retreats — the California New Age Hippie has long been a perpetrator of the health trends that have swept over the Western world. “California sober”, the newest “thing” hailing from the West Coast, refers to people who don’t drink but do smoke weed. 

To celebrate 4/20, Tasteful Chronicles investigated more on the matter, to find out what makes “Cali Sober” a health trend, and give you 5 reasons to go Cali Sober in 2020.


1- YOU’LL BE HEALTHIER


It’s a health trend because being  “Cali Sober” means you’re not drinking any alcohol. Marijuana and alcohol have long been portrayed as similar vices with a variety of risks and a few benefits. But research shows that smoking marijuana is actually a lot less harmful than alcohol. More than 30,700 Americans died from alcohol-induced causes in 2014. There have been zero documented deaths from marijuana use alone. As well,  A 16-year study of more than 65,000 Americans, published in the American Journal of Public Health, found that healthy marijuana users were not more likely to die earlier than healthy people who did not use cannabis.

2- NO HANGOVERS


Remember that time you woke up feeling like absolute crap?  Your head was pounding, your mouth was as dry as the Nevada desert, and you didn’t dare look at your phone, fearing that you might have drunk texted your ex a picture of his new girlfriend with a text that said: “her?? really??”. And so you buried your face in a mountain of chocolate chip pancakes, from your local dinner , hoping that the sugar high would distract you from remembering all the embarrassing things you did and said the night before? NEW YORK PILATES


Founded by our ultimate girl crush, Heather Andersen , New York Pilates was our favorite pilates studio in NYC pre-pandemic. Currently in the process of filming their virtual classes, their online studio will be live in the next weeks. And we’re very excited to see what’s coming because we know how tech-savvy Andersen and her husband & business partner can be. Salmon

Salmon is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acid which is very important to keep the skin thick, supple, and moisturized. Omega-3 fats also reduces inflammation which can cause redness and acne.

 

Sunflower Seeds

Sunflower seeds are packed with nutrients such as Vitamin E, a very important antioxidant for the skin.
