HOW TO TURN QUARANTINE INTO THE RETREAT OF YOUR DREAMS

Imagine you just checked into a yoga center in Tulum, a Sky Ting retreat in Mallorca, or you emerged from your private helicopter into the Canyons of the Amangiri resort. The choice is yours, the only premise is that you don’t know when you’re checking out.

Until then, you’re going to make the best out of this retreat that you would, in under normal circumstances, never have the time to attend, let alone afford. This is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to press pause, relax and reboot yourself without fearing like your missing out on anything. This is your opportunity to use this time to relax and revitalize your body and mind as you make your way into the new decade. Below, is a step-by-step guide that will help you make the best out of social isolation by turning quarantine into the retreat of your dreams.

EAT WELL

On Instagram, it seems as though everyone is eating extra healthy. We’re telling you to do the same, but make sure to keep it consistent, not just for the gram’. During quarantine, it’s easy to eat out of boredom but make sure you feed your body the nutrients that it needs. Not to say that you should be “dieting” during these times because we don’t believe in dieting. On the contrary, allow yourself to indulge in foods that you love but make sure you stay mindful of what you put inside your body. This is a great time to start trying out new healthy recipes, some instagram accounts are great to follow for recipe inspirations: @janecooksforyou ,@spicerevelation or @lifeofchaskye

WORKOUT EVERYDAY

Try to move your body and stay active everyday. Now, we’re not asking you to go Barry’s Bootcamp on us , this is a “retreat” after all. But wether it’s high or low-impact, you want to make sure that you keep your body moving (check out our workout playlist if you need some good music!). Go for walks, hikes, do some mat pilates, yoga, there are tons of free tutorials online. If you want to get a bit more creative with your workouts, organize a dance zoom party with your friends!

FILTER OUT YOUR ENTERTAINMENT

Social distancing means more time to watch movies, read books, listen to podcasts and catch up on all the entertainment that you’ve been wanting to consume for years. If you want to make the best out of this time, try to filter out your entertainment. Meaning, keep up with the Kardashians, but with moderation. Instead, try to watch movies, listen to podcasts and read books that are considered “classics”, or that have pioneered cultural or artistic movements.

STICK TO YOUR DAILY RITUALS

Don’t skip your morning skincare routine just because you can — stick to the steps in your daily that give your day a sense of structure. Use this time to appreciate the little things in life that make you happy like drinking your morning coffee, taking a warm shower or reading a good book in candlelight.

MEDITATE

Meditation has  proven to improve mental and emotional health — some forms of meditation can improve depression and create a more positive outlook on life. Research shows that maintaining an ongoing habit of meditation may help you maintain these benefits long term and the best thing about it is that you can do it anywhere, without special equipment or memberships.
